The Education
Consider this your orientation.
Every ingredient in every Date Me date was chosen for a reason. The Medjool date. The fair-trade dark chocolate. The nut butter. The sea salt. None of it is an accident. All of it is intentional. This is where we explain ourselves.
01·The Star
The Medjool date. The ingredient that started everything.
Not all dates are created equal. The Medjool is the one with the reputation — large, soft, naturally caramel-sweet, and dense enough to hold a filling that would collapse anything less substantial. It is the Rolls-Royce of the date world, and it has been for centuries.
It grows in the warmest, driest climates on earth — Morocco, California, the Jordan Valley — where the heat concentrates its natural sugars slowly, over months, into something that requires no refinement, no processing, and no additives to taste like a luxury product. It already is one.
The Medjool date doesn't try to be indulgent. It just is.
In Lebanese culture — and across the Middle East and North Africa — the date has never needed an explanation. It appears at every table, at every occasion, before every meal. It is hospitality. It is tradition. It is comfort in its most ancient and uncomplicated form. Date Me was built on that foundation, and we have not moved from it.
King of Dates
The word 'Medjool' means 'unknown' in Arabic — a name given by traders who kept its origin a closely guarded secret.
1,000+ years
Of cultivation. The Medjool date has been grown and traded across the Middle East and North Africa for over a millennium.
35g
The weight of a single Date Me date. One serving. One complete experience.
100% natural sugar
No refined sugar added. The sweetness you taste is entirely the date's own — fructose and glucose that release slowly and sustain energy rather than spike it.
Why organic Medjool
Date Me uses organic Medjool dates exclusively. Not because it is a marketing choice — because it is the only responsible one. Conventionally grown dates are treated with pesticides that concentrate in the fruit's naturally sticky skin. Organic cultivation means what you taste is the date, and only the date.
We source from growers who treat the Medjool as it deserves to be treated — with patience, with care, and with an understanding that you cannot rush something this good.
02·The Case
What it does for you. Which is more than most things this good.
The Medjool date has a PR problem. It is naturally sweet, which means it has spent decades being lumped in with things that are not good for you. This is incorrect, and we are here to correct it.
Natural sugar is not the same as refined sugar. The fructose in a Medjool date arrives packaged with fibre, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants — a combination that changes everything about how your body processes it. The spike and crash you associate with sugar does not happen here. What happens instead is sustained energy, genuine satiety, and a body that has been given something it actually wants.
This is what choosing well tastes like.
Sustained Energy
Fructose and glucose release slowly alongside fibre, preventing the spike-and-crash cycle of refined sugar. One date provides immediate energy that lasts, without the fog that follows.
Digestive Health
A single Medjool date contains approximately 1.6g of dietary fibre — soluble and insoluble. The gut microbiome responds well to dates; multiple studies have confirmed their prebiotic properties.
Heart Health
Rich in potassium, which helps regulate blood pressure by counteracting the effects of sodium. Dates also contain magnesium, which supports healthy blood vessel function.
Bone Strength
Calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, and manganese — the four minerals most directly involved in bone density and strength. Not in trace amounts. In meaningful quantities per serving.
Brain Function
Dates contain flavonoids and antioxidants studied for their potential role in supporting cognitive function and reducing neuroinflammation. The research is early, but it is consistent.
Natural Antioxidants
One of the highest antioxidant fruits available — carotenoids, flavonoids, and phenolic acid neutralise free radicals and support cellular health.
Iron & Vitality
One of the most bioavailable plant sources of iron — essential for haemoglobin production, oxygen transport, and energy metabolism.
Natural Labour Support
Research in the Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology links regular date consumption in the final weeks of pregnancy with shorter first-stage labour and higher rates of spontaneous onset. A fact worth knowing — not a medical claim.
Pregnancy note: always consult a healthcare provider. This is informational, not medical advice.
03·The Coating
Dark chocolate is not a treat. It is a decision.
Milk chocolate is a compromise. White chocolate is a confection. Dark chocolate — real dark chocolate, made from quality cacao with a high percentage of solids and minimal additives — is something else entirely. It is the only chocolate that earns the word 'superfood' without anyone rolling their eyes.
We use fair-trade dark chocolate on every Date Me date. Not because it photographs well — though it does — but because it is the only chocolate that belongs here. It is the coating that makes the filling taste more like itself. It is the bitterness that makes the sweetness worth having.
Bitterness, used well, is not a flaw. It is a feature.
What makes dark chocolate different
Cacao Content
A high cacao percentage means more of the actual bean and less of everything else. More flavanols. More antioxidants. More of the compounds that make dark chocolate genuinely good for the body.
Flavanols & Heart Health
Among the most studied compounds in nutrition — supporting nitric oxide production, which relaxes blood vessels and reduces blood pressure. The evidence is robust, replicated, and peer-reviewed.
Magnesium
One of the richest dietary sources of the mineral more than half the population is deficient in without knowing it. The pre-sleep dark chocolate craving is not random — the body is asking for something it needs.
Mood & Theobromine
A natural stimulant found only in cacao — a calm, sustained lift that is distinct from caffeine. It does not spike. It does not crash. A mild euphoria chocolate lovers have felt for centuries. Now you can explain it.
Antioxidant Density
Per gram, dark chocolate contains more antioxidants than blueberries, acai, and most foods routinely marketed for their antioxidant content. Its ORAC score is extraordinary.
Why fair-trade
The cacao industry has a well-documented history of exploitative labour practices. Fair-trade certification means the farmers who grew the cacao were paid fairly, worked in safe conditions, and had genuine agency in their supply chain. We will not cut costs at their expense. This is non-negotiable.
Fair-trade certified cacao on every Date Me date
No milk solids — dark chocolate only
No artificial emulsifiers beyond what is required for tempering
Minimum cacao content that delivers genuine nutritional benefit
04·The Filling
The filling is not decoration. It is the point.
The nut butter is what makes a Date Me date a Date Me date. It is the element that transforms something already good — a Medjool date — into something that occupies an entirely different category. It adds protein. It adds healthy fat. It adds satiety that a plain date, however excellent, cannot provide. And it adds the diversity that gives Date Me its twelve personalities.
Peanut butter is not the same as cashew butter. Cashew butter is not the same as tahini. Each one has a different fat profile, a different protein content, and a completely different flavour register. Each one was chosen for a specific flavour for a specific reason. There is no filler here.
Every nut butter was chosen. None of them were settled for.
Peanut Butter
The highest protein content in the range. Rich in resveratrol — the antioxidant found in red wine — and niacin (B3) for brain function. Dense, satisfying, and the reason The Heartbreaker has a 97% reorder rate.
Cashew Butter
The mildest, most versatile base. Rich in zinc for immune function, plus magnesium and copper. Its fat is predominantly oleic acid — the same fat found in olive oil. It does not compete with what surrounds it. It amplifies.
Almond Butter
The highest vitamin E content of any nut butter here — protecting cell membranes and supporting skin health — plus magnesium, calcium, and riboflavin. The nutrition overachiever of the range. Hence the name.
Pistachio Cream
One of the most complete plant proteins available — all nine essential amino acids in meaningful quantities — plus lutein and zeaxanthin for eye health. The most nutritionally complete nut butter in the range.
Tahini
Ground sesame paste — one of the richest plant sources of calcium, plus zinc, copper, and sesame lignans. Used in Middle Eastern cuisine for thousands of years as a source of sustained energy and deep nutrition.
Coconut Butter
Made from whole coconut flesh, not just the oil. Rich in MCTs that convert to energy rapidly, and lauric acid with well-documented immune-supporting properties. An energy hit and a tan in the same bite.
What the filling does in every flavour
Slows glucose absorption — fat and protein reduce the glycaemic impact of the date's natural sugars
Increases satiety — one Date Me date satisfies in a way most snacks do not
Adds plant protein — every filling provides meaningful protein per serving
Delivers essential micronutrients — each nut butter contributes a distinct set of vitamins and minerals
100% natural — no hydrogenated oils, no added sugar, no emulsifiers in the filling
05·The Standard
No toxic ingredients. No exceptions.
Every ingredient in a Date Me date is there because it belongs there. Not because it extends shelf life. Not because it reduces cost. Not because it is standard industry practice. Every ingredient was chosen, tested, and held to a standard that most snack brands do not apply to themselves.
The ingredients list is short because we do not add things that should not be there. The flavour is intense because we use real ingredients in real quantities.
If we can't explain why it's in there, it isn't in there.
No Refined Sugar
The sweetness comes entirely from the Medjool date itself. No sugar, glucose syrup, or agave in any filling or coating. The date does the work. We trust it.
No Preservatives
Handmade in small batches and consumed fresh. The dark chocolate coating is a natural barrier; the fillings are stable by nature. Freshness is a feature, not a compromise.
No Artificial Ingredients
No artificial flavourings, colours, or emulsifiers beyond the lecithin naturally present in quality dark chocolate. We use the real ingredient. Always.
No Shortcuts
Each date is filled by hand, in small batches. When you fill a date by hand, you can feel when it is right. Scale is the enemy of quality, and we have chosen quality.
No Compromises on Sourcing
Organic Medjool dates. Fair-trade dark chocolate. Natural nut butters with no added oil or sugar. If we cannot source it the right way, we do not use it.
The full ingredients transparency
Every Date Me date contains: organic Medjool date, natural nut butter (varies by flavour), fair-trade dark chocolate. Additional flavour elements — matcha, espresso, orange zest, coconut flakes, sesame seeds, honey — are real, sourced, and present in quantities that make a difference to the flavour and nutrition profile. Nothing is a trace addition included for label decoration.

06·The Process
Small batch. By hand. In Monaco. Every time.
There is a version of this product that could be made at scale. Automated filling equipment. Standardised batch sizes. Centralised production. Lower cost per unit. More margin.
We do not make that version.
Date Me is handmade in Monaco in small batches because that is the only way to make it correctly. The Medjool date is a natural product — no two are exactly the same size, the same softness, the same shape. A machine cannot respond to that. A person can.
Every batch is a decision. Not a production run.
Selection
Every Medjool date is selected by hand — size, softness, and skin integrity assessed before it enters production. Quality control at the beginning, not the end.
Preparation
The date is opened, the pit removed, and the interior prepared to receive the filling. By hand, for every single date.
Filling
Each date is filled by hand with its flavour-specific nut butter — generous, reaching the full length of the date, visible when cut. This is not decoration. This is the product.
Closing
Pressed closed gently — enough pressure to hold the filling without distorting the shape. This step determines the integrity of the final product.
Tempering
Heating and cooling chocolate to align its crystal structure — a glossy surface, a clean snap, a melt-point just above body temperature. A skill. It cannot be rushed.
Coating
Each filled date is enrobed in tempered dark chocolate — even on all sides, thick enough for a genuine snap, thin enough not to overwhelm. Each one is checked.
Setting & Finishing
Set at the correct temperature to avoid bloom. Sea salt, toasted coconut, sesame, pistachio — applied while the chocolate is still slightly tacky, so they stay in place.
Packing
Each box is packed by hand — arranged, sealed, and checked before it leaves. There is no conveyor belt. There is a person, checking that it is right, before it reaches you.
07·The Responsibility
What we choose to put in the box says something about what we choose to stand for.
Sustainability is not a section we added to make this page feel complete. It is the reason several of our sourcing decisions cost more than they needed to. Fair-trade certification. Organic farming. Small-batch production. Minimal processing. These are not marketing positions. They are choices that have financial consequences, and we make them anyway.
We are a small brand. We do not have the purchasing power to change an industry. But we have the purchasing power to choose suppliers who are doing it right — and to pay them properly for it.
We choose suppliers the same way we choose ingredients. No red flags. No exceptions.
Organic Medjool Dates
Grown without synthetic pesticides or fertilisers. Organic farming supports soil health, reduces chemical runoff, and produces a cleaner, purer fruit. The cost difference is real. So is the reason for it.
Fair-Trade Dark Chocolate
Minimum price guarantees for farmers, community development funds, and prohibition of child and forced labour within the certified supply chain. We will not use cacao we cannot verify was produced ethically.
Small Batch Production
Small batches mean less waste. Every date that is made is accounted for. Demand-led production is the most sustainable model for a handmade food product, and it is the model we use.
Packaging
Beautiful because the product inside deserves it. Minimal because the planet does not need more unnecessary material. We will move to more sustainable materials as quality alternatives become available — properly, not performatively.
Local Production
A short, controllable supply chain and a minimal production footprint. The carbon impact of a small-batch handmade operation in one location is categorically different from that of an industrially produced snack.
Class dismissed
Now you know everything.
The date. The chocolate. The filling. The process. The philosophy. The responsibility behind every decision.
The only thing left is to taste it.
